Ambient Documentation
2024
Creating a seamless flow between mobile and desktop in a medical device.
As an experienced UX designer, I was responsible for leading workshops and work sessions with other peer designers and stakeholders (teams were from Brazil and from the Netherlands), creating wireframes and validating them, creating hi-fi prototypes for exhibitions and creating the components in the Design Library needed for the project, as well as create clear and concise handoff documentation for the development team.

Challenge: In order to amplify the flow of Ambient Documentation, a tool made to record a consultation, transcribe the dialogue of patient and doctor and further extract data, the team was tasked with creating a mobile flow that would be able to record a consultation and sync the transcription with the web suite. In the process, we were also developing the new version of Ambient Documentation.
Phase 1: Discovery
Workshop: Mapping the journey of a typical medical user
We had the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders and users on defining the typical journey a clinician would go through when consulting whit a patient. We captured typical quotes and experiences that this clinician would say/have during the moment. From there, we were able to capture the key insights and opportunities for the flow. For instance, providing a pre-filled document with the patient's history would allow the clinician to prepare for the consultation, increasing the efficiency of the encounter.
Phase 2: Framing
From there, using an adapted version of the RICE framework, we were able to determine which features were going to be a priority in development and which were going to be later re-evaluated.
Phase 3: Ideate
During the ideation phase, we build wireframes utilizing the grid system built for the web suite and had usability testing sessions with stakeholders in order to validate the designs.
Phase 4: Build
Once the designs were validated, the new components needed were listed and documented on a Figma library with full handoff documentation, including accessibility rules and business rules. The components were then tokenized and developed to be applied in different frameworks (React, Angular), all with design checkups and supervision.
Phase 5: Iterate
The project was presented during Connect Day 2024, which was essential to gather further insights and customer feedback at the fair.
